Freeze-Frame Filming In 3D
Imagine strolling through a crowded city street otherwise frozen in time. That's the special effect New York inventor Dayton Taylor hopes to bring to the screen with his Timetrack virtual camera. The system strings together a computer-controlled set of 25 to 80 cameras that use one strip of film to snap a shot at the same exact moment from slightly different angles. The result, a hypnotizing, 3-D freeze-frame tracking shot, has already been used in Miller Genuine Draft, Charles Schwab and Samsung TV commercials, and has caught the attention of Steven Spielberg.
